Meet Pete
Pete is the father of 3 DPS students in District 3 schools (2 elementary, 1 high school). He has served as a PTA treasurer, career day speaker, concession stand worker -- you know, normal dad stuff.
His career has given him a clear sense of what good governance looks like: strong leadership, operational excellence, and accountability. This started during his time as an Army officer where he served in Special Operations units at home and abroad. Since then, his time in the private sector has provided hands-on experience with financial planning, organizational health, and strategic oversight. At present, Pete runs sales and operations for a Durham-based startup.
Pete spent his own “K through 12 career” in public schools and went on to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He then earned a Marshall Scholarship for two years of graduate studies in the United Kingdom.
Outside of his day-to-day work, Pete has had the opportunity to interact with some of our nation's top undergraduates – reinforcing for him how powerful a great education can be for our kids. He has chaired the southeast regional selection committee for the Marshall Scholarship and currently teaches in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point as an Army Reservist.
He has also tried his hand at beekeeping . . . with mixed results.
